What is Inkubator On Air?

Each episode of Inkubator On Air will consist of a brief interview with the playwright, then a reading of the first ten minutes of a play in development with professional actors, followed by a short feedback session with the artists in the room. Prior to the live recording session on the evening of Sunday, August 4, 2019, playwrights will get two thirty-minute consultations with Artistic Director T.P. Huth in order to further develop the piece. In addition, one piece featured in the first season of the podcast will have the opportunity to receive a full workshop in Inkubator’s 2019-2020 season.

Submission Guidelines

At this time, we are looking for new works that are still being developed, rather than plays that have finished their germination. Playwrights must be able to attend the live recording in Montgomery County, MD on the evening of August 4th. For this cohort, we are looking for ten-minute plays, rather than the first ten minutes of longer pieces. Playwrights will submit a PDF of their new ten-minute play, along with a brief summary of where the piece is in the writing process, to inkubatorlab@gmail.com. Submissions will be accepted through 11:59 p.m. on June 28, 2019. Playwrights will hear if their piece has been selected the following week.

You can listen to current episodes of Inkubator On Air to get a sense of the project on Apple Podcasts, Stitcher, Spotify, and Google Podcasts, or at inkubatorlab.org/inkubatoronair.

Inkubator New Works Development Laboratory is dedicated to fostering the voices of traditionally underrepresented playwrights. For questions, please email us at inkubatorlab@gmail.com.
